I've been trying to build a batman mask and I have never done any sculpting in my life. I have attempted to build small characters for a clay animation movie, but have not had much luck. I decided to buy some Van Aken clay and use an old wig foam head I had to see if I could do it at least somewhat decent. Here are a few pictures of what I have done so far.
If you have any input or can offer advice I would greatly appreciate it. The ears are there temporary and the mask is still in rough shape. I have to smooth it, cut the eyes out attach the real ears. Its a learning progress.

I have started smoothing the mask using a rake, sponges, fingers and hands. I added the ears which I don't want to make too tall. They seem some what off, but its harder for me to figure the exact placement since the foam head is slightly tilted. The ears are by no way finished since I see there is so mich more work to them. The nose is starting to take shape, but with the head being slightly tilted I'm also having problems aligning it.
This mask is not being made to be worn, although I would love to have it as clean as possible and make a cast and maybe a latex or hard pull of it to keep in my office. Well time will tell

Still getting it done! I worked more on the ears and I cut out the eyes! I have been smoothing out the head and now the nose, and mouth. Gonna keep on tracking.....
STAY TUNED!
